Chase Thalheimer is an assistant director at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center, where he manages the Energy & Defense program. The program explores energy as a strategic enabler of military operations, advancing resilient logistics and operational readiness in contested environments.

Thalheimer conducts research and coordinates policy engagement on military energy logistics and supply chain vulnerabilities—particularly in Indo-Pacific and maritime theaters. He also contributes to broader work on installation resilience, operational energy innovation, and coalition energy interoperability. He manages the Energy & Defense Summit and coordinates the Veterans Advanced Energy Fellowship, which equips military veterans to shape energy and national security policy.

He has written on enhanced geothermal systems and policies to unlock domestic energy potential. He also supports research aimed at reinforcing US energy competitiveness in emerging markets.

Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Thalheimer worked at Coalescion, supporting counterproliferation and export control programs in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Tufts University, where he focused on the security and proliferation risks of small modular nuclear reactors.
